Analysis of the match between Leeds and Newcastle
After a dream start with a narrow 1-0 win over Everton on their Premier League return, Leeds were quickly brought back down to earth. Daniel Farkeโs men suffered back-to-back defeats, including a heavy 0-5 loss to Arsenal and a League Cup exit against Sheffield Wednesday on penalties. Clearly, the newly-promoted side still have plenty to work on if they want to stay up.
Back at Elland Road against Newcastle, Leeds can take encouragement from their head-to-head record: only one defeat in their last six Premier League meetings with the Magpies (W2, D3). This could give them extra confidence heading into the clash.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are still chasing their first league win of the campaign. After a goalless draw with Aston Villa, they put in a spirited performance against Liverpool but eventually lost 2-3, conceding the decisive goal in the 100th minute. Despite the defeat, Eddie Howeโs side showed plenty of positives, yet a trip to Elland Road promises to be another tough challenge.
